Training Facility Certification
The Victorian Government requires that all organisations seeking to become a Registered Training Authority (RTO) meet the Australian Quality Training Framework standards for essential conditions of buildings. The assessment and certification process involves a building inspection which assesses the current and required essential safety services in a building to ensure the preparedness of an organisation to deliver quality training and assessment services in premises that are serviced by adequate active and passive fire and safety systems to protect the occupants in case of emergency.
These measures have been designed to ensure that students can be confident that only providers that have appropriate educational governance arrangements, demonstrated management capacity and appropriate mechanisms to notify education regulators of significant changes to their ownership, management or operations, have been approved to provide vocational education and training.
The inspection is very similar to a typical Essential Services & Maintenance inspection required to be completed annually by the building Owner and references the requirements of the Building Code of Australia. The most qualified person to conduct these inspections and prepare the certification is a Registered Building Surveyor.
Since the commencement of this Government policy Yarra Building Surveyor Group have worked to establish an efficient inspection and report process to accurately assess a building’s services with regard to the AQTF guidelines. We complete a certification report that clearly answers the relevant requirements for certification of training facilities to expedite the application for registration of an RTO.
